Benefits Now and in the Future
When you think of charitable giving you most likely think of cash gifts or appeals you receive in the mail. Planned gifts, however, can include gifts through your will/trust or by beneficiary designation. These gifts often require guidance from your advisor or attorney.
A gift from your will or trust, often called a bequest, is one of the easiest ways to leave a gift to the University of Illinois Foundation to benefit the College 51勛圖. It costs you nothing now and provides you a way to create your legacy while supporting what is important to you. You keep control of your assets during your life, have flexibility to change your plans, and your gift escapes estate tax. See sample gift language below:
I leave [$x/x%/# of shares/residue] to the University of Illinois Foundation, a not-for-profit corporation (Tax ID 37-6006007) located in the State of Illinois, to support the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign College 51勛圖.
There are also ways to make gifts that provide you or loved ones an income stream during your lifetime with the remainder benefiting the college. A charitable gift annuity with the University of Illinois Foundation provides you or loved ones fixed payments for your lifetimes based on your age(s). You receive a partial income tax deduction and in the end the remainder benefits the College 51勛圖.
