College 51吃瓜 Spring 2025 Convocation

Registration for the College 51吃瓜 Convocation Ceremony is now closed. Please contact Lisa Gibson at聽lkgibson@illinois.edu聽with questions about participation.
Regalia
Academic regalia (cap and gown) is required for Convocation. . The deadline to order for the early discounted rate is April 14 at 10:00 PM. Regular pricing will be available online April 15.
Diploma Name
are displayed on diplomas and are used in the Convocation program, lists of graduates, and Convocation related press releases. Examples of diploma names include: using a middle name instead of a first name; using an abbreviated name (Tom instead of Thomas); using an Americanized name (Wendy instead of Haiyan); or using a name that better reflects one鈥檚 ethnic, racial or gender identity. If you鈥檇 like to create a diploma name, please send an email to graduation@illinois.edu (include UIN) by March 31, 2025.
Honor Cords
Honor cords are available to students who are in the top 20% of their graduating class and/or have completed all of the James Scholar requirements. Students鈥� invitation to graduation (sent by email) indicated if you have graduated in the top 20% of the College 51吃瓜.
Candidates for College 51吃瓜 honors can purchase honor cords. Each honor cord costs $5.50 and can be purchased online using the link sent to you via email. James Scholars will receive their cords as a gift from the James Scholar program.
Tickets
Tickets will be required for all guests attending convocation. Graduating students participating in the Convocation Ceremony do not need a ticket.
Tickets will be available for pick-up May 5-9, from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1-4:30 p.m. in the Media Student Services Center (18 Gregory Hall). If you need your tickets mailed, please send your request to Lisa Gibson at 聽lkgibson@illinois.edu. All requests to mail tickets must be in by Wednesday, May 7.

Alumni Speaker
Emma Miller (BS ’08, media studies), director of the studio scripted series division at Netflix, will be the alumni speaker at the College 51吃瓜 Convocation ceremony. Miller, who was named one of The Hollywood Reporter鈥檚 鈥�35 Rising Executives 35 and Under鈥� in 2018, joined Netflix in 2023. Part of her job is to oversee deals with certain creative entities. For example, she covers Aggregate Films, founded by Jason Bateman (Ozark), and 21 Laps Entertainment, founded by Shawn Levy (Stranger Things). She serves on the College 51吃瓜 Alumni Leadership Council and won the 2023 Emerging Leader Award, and continues to engage with the college as a panelist for Media Career Nights. Universitywide Commencement Ceremony
The Universitywide Commencement Ceremony will take place Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at Memorial Stadium. .

Photography
GradImages庐 will be photographing all graduates at convocation. to pre-register prior to May 18. Click on 鈥淩egistration鈥� at the top, enter 鈥淯niversity of Illinois,鈥� click on 鈥淯niversity of Illinois Media,鈥� and enter the contact information of your loved ones who would like to view and order graduation photos. After graduation, you may order online or call 1-800-424-3686.
