Research Interests
I am interested in studying online communities in their (infra)structure, their formation, and their interaction with other media sources. My work exists at the intersection of science and technology studies, feminist/critical studies, and media studies. Recent research topics include the expression of gender and gender-centric communties on Reddit, consent in online fetish communities, Gamergate, and the interaction of online alt-right and other regressive/problematic communities with more traditional forms of media.
